Chik

Chik is a task manager built for freelancers, solopreneurs, and small teams. Fully browser-native and mobile friendly it enables its users to collaborate with their clients via client dashboards and live chats without the bloat of similar tools.

What

Chik is a simple task manager that cuts all the bloat of traditional project management solutions like Monday, Asana, and Notion. It has three key design decisions guiding the entire development cycle:

• Focus: Managing a project shouldn't require multiple tabs and hopping between windows. With Chik, everything you need is in one view making it not only quicker to use, but less mental strain as well.
• No bloat: While there's a time and place for complex project management solutions, most professionals don't need it. Chik is built from the ground up with a focus on only providing the absolute necessities the majority of its users need.
• Freelancer-friendly: Freelancers have not only limited time, but limited funds available, Chik is designed with that in mind. We don't lock necessary features behind a paywall, instead we let the user grow with the tool. Paid features are only relevant as the user has more clients (thus funds), and that's when they would upgrade.

Why

Chik is a love child of a partnership between JF Studio and Absurdity Studio born from the realization that most project management tools are way too complicated for small teams or freelancers. We built Chik because we needed a tool like it – something that had client dashboards, live chat, and file uploads but without all the bloat of tools like Monday, Asana, and Notion.

How

• 'Nordcraft' development engine: Nordcraft is an established yet up and coming development framework utilizing the best of two worlds – visual coding, and AAA-game engines. This creates a development cycle that not is faster than traditional cycles, but also scales infinitely as software grows.
• Lightweight backend with Supabase: All logic and backend database storage is handled entirely within Supabase which is an industry standard open source database service.
• Native CSS animations: Instead of integrating heavy, slow, and complex animation libraries like some competitors do, we've decided to work entirely with native CSS timeline animations. This provides a fast, reliable, and beautiful user experience while also being supported across all modern browsers.
